Merry Go Round (re-imagined)

Merry Go Round re-imagined

What is the nature of people? The nature of people is all things. At (almost) 50 I’m getting a little better at holding that contradictory mess, but my emotional response to hard truths in the news, carelessness from people, (and to when someone stole the little birdhouses I placed on the forest path to delight others last month) is to keep a stiff upper lip and keep moving. I’m not even cognizant of the white noise of cumulative grief-from-being-a-human I’m carrying until something absolutely fragile and vulnerable BREAKS me. An against-all-odds sledgehammer against the numbness. It can be an interaction, a photo, a song, a documentary, a metaphor. The one that broke me today: A photo of Gazan dads searching for sea shells with their daughters on the beach during one of the ceasefires of the war. It’s the best in people that gets me, not the worst. It’s the soft not the hard that makes me loose my shit. Maybe you’re like that too.

In that vein, I re-recorded my song “Merry Go Round” for you.
