Celtic Singer-Songwriter Paul Brady in Concert to benefit WUMB on Thursday, February 8th, @8pm at Sanders Theater; Antje Duvekot also performs.

Bono calls him "The iron fist in the velvet glove of Irish Music."

He is first on Bonnie Raitt's list of favorite songwriters and the list of artists who have recorded his songs includes Santana, Tina Turner, Cher, Maura O'Connell, Mary Black and countless others.

Bob Dylan turned to Paul Brady for advice on re-interpreting traditional ballads and admires his skill and attitude: According to Dylan "Some guys got it down - Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, Paul Brady -- secret heroes."

Boston audiences experienced this intense, riveting singer and songwriter at the 2003 Boston Folk Festival and at a benefit concert for WUMB in early 2005, and know him by his songs like "Follow On," "Luck of the Draw," "The Island" as well as his signature versions of traditional ballads like "Arthur McBride" and "The Lakes of Ponchartrain."

Starting off the night will be Singer-Songerwriting, Antje Duvekot. Legendary producer Neil Dorfsman, who has produced CDs by Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and Dire Straits, says, "Her songs are stunning paintings of color and shade, and always generate the heat and light that real art should." Folk-pop star Ellis Paul says, "I think she's going to be the next great American folk singer-songwriter. Celtic band, Solas, included Antje's songs on a CD of works by contemporary songwriters.
